Sustainable Sheep Farming Builds on the Circle of Life

At Shady Hill, we build daily on the cycle of life. And for sure what goes around comes around.

Once a year we clean the sheep barns, hauling the manure pack out to the manure pile where it is composted before later being spread on the fields after the second crop of hay comes off.

My Amish help once asked, how is manure like money? Both he explained won't do any good unless they are spread around. How true.

Our sheep manure is composted in the barn and again in the manure pile where it breaks down. And then the nutrient rick composted sheep manure is spread on the hay fields to nourish the fields and prepare for the next year's hay crop.

Truly we build on the cycle of life on our sustainable sheep farm.
